About this tour

Embark on an unforgettable journey into the heart of the Earth at Gruta do Lago Azul, a natural wonder that will leave you breathless. Your adventure begins with an enchanting 200-meter interpretive trail, leading you to the grand entrance of this mystical cave. From there, a descent awaits, down a majestic 300-step staircase – some steps naturally sculpted from the ancient rock itself. Handrails provide steadfast support throughout your journey, ensuring a safe and comfortable exploration. Along the way, five strategically placed rest stops invite you to pause and absorb the awe-inspiring grandeur of the cavern. Your accredited tourism guide will illuminate the secrets of this geological masterpiece, revealing the varied formations that adorn its walls: delicate stalactites, towering stalagmites, intricate travertines, and countless other calcified wonders. The true marvel, however, lies beneath: a breathtaking lake of intensely vibrant blue, plunging to an astonishing depth of 87 meters. This subterranean sanctuary is home to unique albino 'shrimp,' creatures found nowhere else, alongside the fossilized remains of extinct giants like the prehistoric giant sloth, which roamed this region over 12,000 years ago. Please note: Children aged 0-4 are unable to participate in this tour. Children must be 1.30 meters tall or 6 years and older to join. Important: The use of sneakers or closed-toe shoes with rubber or non-slip soles is mandatory for your safety and comfort. Distance: 21 km from the center of Bonito-MS.
